Blog Post #3

The visual I created was intended to highlight some of the key points of reading comprehension from this weeks’ texts. I believe these tips are incredibly helpful and important to young readers, and aids like this would be valuable in any classroom. My intention with the images was to keep it simple, but effective. More than anything, the images were there to supplement the text and elaborate on the words. For example, the pie chart image in the chunk the text section reinforces the idea of breaking up the whole into smaller pieces, making it more digestible and less intimidating. The group of runners suggests that not everyone goes the same speed, and that’s perfectly okay! Ultimately, the images served to simplify the text, which lends itself well to the overall message of the visual; to simplify reading.
